Kilik & Minteka Pass Trek and Misgar Valley
Klik and Minteka passes have long been the viable passages between the Hunza valley in Pakistan and Xinjiang province of China before construction of the KKH over the Khunjerab pass. The Minteka Pass was the primary passage used in ancient time. Due to gradual advancement of glacial ice on Minteka Pass, an alternate route through the nearby Klik Pass located some 30 km to the west, was used by caravans entering from China and Afghanistan. These passes have served as a safe passage way to traders and caravans for more than 1000 years and have long been part of the ancient silk route. The landscape making up this route is lush and rich in with wildlife including ibex, wolf, bear, and marmot.
